AfroEuro Foundation organized a Trade Mission between 26th June to 28TH June 2019 in The Netherlands designed to connect Ghanaian companies with Dutch counterparts.
The aims for organsing the Trade Mission were:
- to create business opportunities and explore possibilities of joint business projects
- to collaborate with Ghanaian and Dutch businesses, strengthen ties for economic development
- to explore investment possibilities between Ghana and The Netherlands.
The sectors in focus were agribusiness, water, waste management and renewable energy.
The event begun with arrival and welcome of participants. On the first day, participants visited Westland Rijk Zwaan. There was a presentation about Rijk Zwaan seed development activities in Africa by Mrs Anneke van Kamp (Group Manager Communication & Public Affairs of the seed technological centre of Rijk Zwaan. There was also a tour led by Mr. Aad Verduijn of Westland Horti Tours at the World Horti Centre (WHC).During the tour, the group meet diverse companies like PRIVA, VAN DER ENDE GROEP,STOLZE and Genap with a short pitch of their company. The event ended with a networking lunch.
On day two, participants went to the RVO in the Hague for an information meeting about RVO financial instrument and possibilities of Dutch and Ghana companies working together.
There was also Waste management workshop on Ghana going on at the same time at RVO.
For day three, the event begun with an introduction of participants to the Department of Animal Science at the Wageningen University and Research by Mr. Henk van de Mheen. Participants were also introduced to the aquaculture at the Wageningen University and visit to the aquatic research facility of WUR by Dr. Marc Verdegem. Participants had lunch in Forum and later had a workshop on pig research at the Wageningen University focusing on behavioral studies by Dr. Inonge Reimert.
After the program, there was an evaluation for all participants. Overall, most of the participants were very pleased about the Trade mission and they were thankful for the opportunity given to them to be part of such a good program.
